BMC's Vision: Mastering the Art of Orchestrating Enterprise AI Revolution

In a world buzzing with enthusiastic discussions about generative AI, you might wonder where the real value lies for businesses. According to McKinsey, nearly four out of five companies are jumping on the generative AI bandwagon, but only a fraction are genuinely benefiting. What’s the missing piece of the puzzle? The answer might just be in orchestration.

Some experts claim that orchestration holds the magic key that turns basic AI agents into true agentic AI. In simpler terms, it’s about integrating various systems and tools to create an efficient, cohesive workflow. And that’s where BMC is gearing up to make its mark with its Control-M platform. This tool allows enterprises to automate workflows across different platforms, centralizing control in a way that's not only efficient but also comprehensive.

Recently, BMC earned recognition as a leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for service orchestration and automation platforms. Basil Faruqui, the director of solutions marketing at BMC, boldly articulated that Control-M is the “orchestrator of orchestrators.” He believes that the application of this orchestration is evolving and could soon extend beyond current technologies to involve AI agents more directly.

Take Salesforce, for example. Their Agentforce, described as a “digital labor platform,” grants firms visibility in scaling AI agents. If you think about it, this is where the action is headed. According to Faruqui, whether it’s a data warehouse or a CRM like Salesforce or SAP, all these elements are bound to automate their functions using agentic AI. What does that imply for businesses? The role of orchestration will inevitably shift towards automating and interlinking agents across diverse systems.

Faruqui shared an anecdote from a meeting with a major healthcare organization processing billions in claims monthly. They reported that their inaugural testing of generative AI was nothing short of groundbreaking. Imagine drastically slashing claim processing times! Yet, it's crucial to remember that technology only adds true value when it’s deployed in operational settings, which brings with it a slew of governance and operational challenges. This is where effective orchestration can bridge the gap.

Looking ahead, Faruqui is speaking at the AI & Big Data Expo Europe this month. He pointed out an exciting trend: investment in AI projects is increasingly being driven from the boardroom rather than just the C-suite. This indicates a major shift in perspective, where companies are starting to report their AI progress directly in shareholder communications.

“This momentum is gaining speed,” Faruqui exclaimed. “We need to be prepared—not in three years, but in six months.” At BMC, they envision an ‘agent economy’ taking off where orchestration acts as the gateway to substantial business outcomes.

In light of these emerging developments, the role of orchestration in AI is becoming increasingly significant. As companies continue exploring the capabilities of agentic AI, BMC’s Control-M may very well be the compass guiding them through this transformative landscape.

Catch Basil Faruqui at the AI & Big Data Expo Europe in Amsterdam on September 24-25, as he shares insights on building robust pipelines for scalability and efficiency.
